Welcome |

Awe in Autism is about celebrating the many ways in which those on the spectrum have given us insight, inspired us, and opened our eyes to different ways of looking at the world. We invite you to explore the site, and to experience the Awe in Autism. The creative works in our gallery, and the people who share their stories here, focus on what is good, what is hopeful, and what is worth celebrating. |

Filmmaker Susan Hamovitch |
Vocalist/Musician Michael Korins |
For most of her life, Susan silently carried around a dark family secret. That secret was her brother, Alan, who has autism and intellectual impairment. Alan was born less than a decade after the emergence of the Refrigerator Mother theory — a time when cognitive disability was associated with shame. |
Diagnosed with autism at age three, Michael Korins has struggled in just about every area of his life — except one: music. Michael has perfect pitch, is an accomplished vocalist, and also plays the piano. |
